I grew up in Havertown, Pennsylvania—a suburb of Philadelphia. I spent most of my time playing outside with neighborhood friends, climbing trees, swimming in summer, and reading, reading, reading.
Unlike many writers, I didn’t want to be a writer when I grew up. In fact, writing was something my English-teacher mother made me do. I remember my mother sending me to my room over and over until the thank-you note I was crafting met her high standards. Oddly enough, although these experiences kept me from doing my favorite things, they made me love to write. Since those early days, I’ve taught writing to students of all ages.
My picture books Little Witch’s To-Do List and Little Bunny’s To-Do List—illustrated by Kiersten Eve Eagan and published by Abrams Appleseed—are out in the world. Little Elf’s To-Do List will have its book birthday in September 2026. They’re part of A Magical List Book series in which characters plan how they’ll spend their magical days. My poems have been featured in numerous anthologies like A Sea’s Song: Poems to Share and Clara’s Kooky Compendium of Thimblethoughts and Wonderfuzz. I also have many poems published in magazines like Cricket, Highlights, and The School Magazine.
While I don’t climb as many trees lately, I still love to walk outside with friends, swim, and read. I spend most days writing, writing, writing. I also love to spend time with our grown children, with friends I’ve known forever, with my husband, and with our crazy Aussiedoodle.
